UKLC Students Visit Lord Mayor of Chester

UKLC is excited to offer its groups the opportunity of a full immersion into the British education system by participating in an integration programme. Last month we welcomed our first integration group from Spain!

UKLC has partnered with a local innovative, international school in Chester, to offer its students a truly memorable experience.
The school is a hub of technology, innovation and academic study which is unparalleled in its commitment to global and professional engagement.

A group of 25 students from Vigo in Spain participated on a 3-week integration course at Chester International School (CIS) in partnership with UKLC.

The students have had their stay in Chester funded by the Vigo City Council as part of a government initiative to broaden their students’ views on the world, and to improve their English. Students stayed with local host families in Chester as part of the integration programme and the students were partnered with “buddies” who accompanied them on a daily basis to participate in all of their curricular lessons and school activities.

On the 24 September the group met with the Lord Mayor of Chester at the Town Hall to present a gift from the city of Vigo to the City of Chester as a “Thank you!” for their hospitality. The Lord Mayor was exceptional with the students and gave them a guided tour of the town hall and its history!

UKLC’s Sales & Marketing Director Tregarran Percival said

“We are extremely grateful to the Lord Mayor for meeting with our students. It is a great honour for the children to have met with him and experience a behind-the-scenes look at the Town Hall – an opportunity that many of us Chester residents don’t usually enjoy! This project has been a fantastic opportunity for children from Spain to experience the life of a student in a UK school. Chester International School (CIS) is an extraordinary place and with their Acting Principal, Katrina Brown, they have pulled out the stops to create a memorable experience for both their students and those from Spain. It will have a major impact on how they see their place in the world.”

We have other students who are eagerly anticipating for arrival in Chester to take part in this new and exciting programme.
