Chetham’s School, Manchester
This city centre school is the largest specialist music school in the UK and is famous for being home to the oldest lending library in the world – Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels used to meet there often! The site offers a mix of modern facilities and accommodation set against a back drop of medieval architecture. Its position in the middle of the vibrant city of Manchester means that students have the opportunity to explore a wealth of attractions on their doorstep.
Chetham’s School of Music sits between the Cathedral, shopping centres and the popular Hard Rock Cafe. Famous for its industry, Manchester has been modernised over the past 20 years and has become one of Britain’s most important commercial and financial centres. It has a thriving cultural scene, catering to its huge student population and Chetham’s often hosts events during the biannual Manchester International Festival in July.
